PIEDRAS IN THE CITY

Tras años de grabaciones solitarias, demasiado underground como para tomárselas en serio, Coré Ruiz empezó a componer sus primeras canciones bajo el alias de Piedras In The City. Al conocer a Alexis Cabrera a mediados de 2008 encontró el apoyo técnico que necesitaba para abordar la grabación de su primer disco, ‘Insomniac Hedgehog’, que finalmente vio la luz en mayo de 2009. El resultado: un potaje de rock alternativo con toques electrónicos, experimentales o "semi-metal".
Piedras In The City había tomado forma, por fin. En diciembre de 2009, Coré volvió al estudio de Alexis para afrontar un reto a tono con lo experimental del proyecto: componer y grabar un álbum íntegramente en siete días. Así nació ‘One Week’, ocho nuevas canciones que, a pesar de su urgencia, captan mejor el espíritu del proyecto y el camino que podría seguir en el futuro. La prostitución creativa de Coré (que toca en otras tres bandas) le llevó a dejar Piedras In The City sin novedades hasta el verano de 2011, cuando por fin encontró la manera de plantear su repertorio en directo. En la mini-gira ‘Distorted/Unplugged’ se abordaron las canciones de los dos discos desde una nueva perspectiva, con la intimidad de un acústico, pero sin dejar de lado el gusto por el ruido y los chispazos electrónicos. Actualmente Coré trabaja minuciosamente en un álbum conceptual. Así que… permaneced atentos, gente pedrada.

After years of lonely recordings, too underground to take them seriously, Coré Ruiz began working on his first songs as Piedras In The City. When he knew Alexis Cabrera in 2008 he found the technical support he needed to start the recording of his first album, ‘Insomniac Hedgehog’, which finally came out in May 2009. The result: an alt-rock mixture with electronic, experimental and semi-metal touches. In December 2009 Coré returned to Alexis’ studio to face a challenge: composing and recording a whole new album in seven days. That’s how ‘One Week’ got born, eight new songs that, despite their urgency, catch better the spirit of the project and the path that may follow in the future. Coré’s creative prostitution (he plays in other three bands in Canary Islands) drove him to leave Piedras In The City without novelties until summer 2011, when he finally found the way to take the project to the stages. At the mini-tour ‘Distorted/Unplugged’ the songs were played from a new perspective, with the intimacy of an unplugged set, but never leaving the electronic sparks and the liking for noise. Coré is currently working meticulously on a concept album. So… stay alert, stoned people
